Internal transportation
The most common public transport in Lagos include taxis, buses and motorbike taxis, commonly known as osakas.
- Lagos' new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a bus network which has replaced the older buses and somewhat eased traffic congestion in Lagos. Long queues in stations are common while traveling with BRT and the buses get pretty overcrowded but even so they take you successfully to the final destination
- Getting around with a car is complicated due to the severe traffic congestion and the reckless drivers, it can take hours to travel just a few kilometers.
- Ferries are an unpopular transportation in the city, but they can get you through the islands and the mainland avoiding the heavy road traffic .
- Lagos Rail Mass Transit is a rapid transit system being developed and under construction in Lagos State The Lagos State Government announced that the Blue and Red Lines would be open by December 2022.
Waste managment:

- The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) was established in 1977. The then two Local Government Councils, namely Lagos Island and Lagos Mainland, could not cope with the volume of waste resulting from the oil-boom stimulated economy and its attendant influence on migrants into the new capital city from the rural and less developed areas of Nigeria and neighboring West African countries.
- The disposal of solid wastes to land is the ultimate end-point for any waste management system. However, waste landfills should be set up and operated properly in order to minimize the risks posed to health and the environment. This review provides an insight into landfill operations and management in Lagos, Nigeria. Results show that landfills within Lagos are uncontrolled and do not conform to international standards of similar operations elsewhere in the world.
- This results in an increase of insects and rodents which allows blowing of litter that causes bad odor and general environmental degradation. These negative impact scan only be minimized by pragmatic design and proper management of landfills within urban and peri-urban areas.
